FIRST HOT WEATHER OF THE SEASON

On the first hot day of the summer, I decide to walk the Halifax waterfront, mostly because I want to enjoy the weather while I wait for my hair appointment.

The harbour is calm — so calm, that I can see right down to the bottom. I was struck by how beautiful the blues were, and decided to get a few pictures.

I walk down a bit further by Bishop's Landing to check out a garden box project Nocturne was organizing. I run into Melany and Signy (Nocturne staff), and have a glass of Prosecco with them and Michelle (fellow Nocturne board member) to spend the remaining time.

I finish off the outing with a good haircut and a chat with the barber.

THE NEW WEBSITE

This is my first blog post on this freshly built site. After years of using Squarespace—and paying $300 a year for a platform that never quite felt like mine—I decided it was time to learn HTML, CSS, and a bit of JavaScript to create something fully handmade. As an artist, there's nothing more satisfying than building something yourself.

Now Behold! What I have created! I've implemented a few features I'm proud of already: a dark mode using localStorage that remembers your preference across visits, and some interactive navigation maps to make exploring the site more intuitive and fun.
